25 Oct'08 -2nd day in S'pore(Part ii)

Wow, so secure, bicycle also need to lock with tyre. In Malaysia, it's rare to look people with their bicycle bacause normally we use motorbike or car to work, since the public transport is not perfect & well controlled as in S'pore, many places still not equipped with public transport like LRT, monorail or KTM services. As for me, i travel to LRT station by car, then take train to interchange station & take another train-monorail to work. Seem a little bit tiring, but many peoples use to it. We scared of jam & the car parking is expensive.

Very rare incident as compare with KL, we normally park our car near LRT station but they park their bicycles~ oh wow, quite an environment loving country, vehicle well control country to prevent jam & air pollution.

can you see the "ERP", this is actually our country "toll", they use electronic system like our "smart tag system", you need to top up ur tag & put inside your car, whenever you travel in the city or parking your car , the ERP system will automatic deduct from your tag.
Singapore utilise no workman ship toll system & parking system, all automatically deduct from ERP sytem. Everything well controlled by the government, they charged a higher fee for the peak hour who travel to city & lower fee for people who travel after the working hour (8pm) in town to prevent traffic jam.

Convenient MRT system in S'pore

Chinatown complex in S'pore, we bought a lot of things here especially my mom, she bought preserved duck eggs, mushroom, dry shark fins, handbags, blankets, handkerchiefs & towels.
For peoples who earns money in S'pore & consume in S'pore, the sundries consider cheaper than M'sia. One bowl of noodles in M'sia around RM4 but Sin 2.5 in S'pore, newspaper in S'pore sin 0.8 but RM1 to RM1.3 in M'sia.

Chinatown in S'pore ( alike petaling street in KL)

china garden near to chinatown, a lot of old peoples gather in chinatown for chit chat & play cheese. A very serious incident in s'pore is old peoples seem getting more & more but young local peoples seem getting reduce & lot of foreigners coming to S'pore.

Need to rest & relax

Finally my year end account closing already & my boss also went back to Japan on yesterday night. After tiring for few weeks time, now is the time to take a break for holiday! So i will according to my previous planning, a short holiday 4 days 3 night to Singapore on 24.10.08 to 27.10.08 (Friday to Monday). On the same time, mama & i can visit my dear brother who working in Singapore.

Since it's not convenient to stay in gege's rental house, so we choose to booking hotel 81 in geylang which near to gege's house. I had survey in the website, Geylang is the area where backpackers & budget group like to stay. Hotel 81 offers one night stay for around Sin dollar 73-80. As they concern, the price is lower than other "how many star hotel", but for my budget concern, if sin dollar 73 convert to RM already RM178.85, not really budget if stay for 3 nights including public holiday eve(saturday & sunday), surcharged on public holiday eve will around RM 200 per night. So, accomodation around RM 600 for 3 night stay & RM200 for return bus ticket for 2 person(mama & i).
Anyway it's been a long long time didn't go to Singapore, i think around 6 years. When i'm 21st years old, my generous good gege spend me to singapore, on that time we stay in friend's house(save a lot), then after that we go jurong, orchard road, haw par villa & sentosa as well . I still remember i bought a bossini t-shirt with discount price and until now i still can wear it cos of its good quality.
This time i planning to go to orchard road, haw par villa & sentosa also, to see any changes of this favourite travel highlight. Hopefully can go to Clarke Quay and china town(牛车水) cos' cari.com recommend that the scenery at Clarke Quay is nice & the souvenirs at china town is cheap & i want to buy some for my friends. For mama, she want to visit a friend who live there, maybe we will need to squeeze some time for that.
Thanks gege & angela who help us to arrange the booking & arrange the highlights for us! arigato gozaimazu onisan , see you next two week!

Penang trip II

Jackson recommended this restaurant "美食之家"-penang self service dim sum near to USM(University Sains Malaysia) to us. In KL, there is a lot of famous dim sum restaurant in Cheras Connaught, but this is the first time i saw self service dim sum in penang. Quite a good idea as we no need to wait for their staffs to take the dim sum to us, its cut a lot of waiting time & we can see the staffs are taken fresh dim sum from the steamer.
They served a lot of dim sum, pau, cheok feng, porridge & fried food as well, we can then take a tray to take any dim sum that we like, thus their staffs will tick on the card to show evidence of food taken, finally can paid at the counter by showing the card. This breakfast cost us RM70.00 including a pot of tea for 5 person.

My trip member-chin, sui, jackson, eve & me~~

Night life of Penang Island, really a lot of pretty gals & young boys.
I think maybe there is few universty & colleage are located here, that's why so many young guys & gals.

Few of my friends like clubbing, so after enjoying delicious foods near gurney plaza, we go clubbing , the street is so crowded with young peoples especially on saturday night, the place we choose is more to disco, music is too loud(actually eve & me are more enjoy clubbing in soothing melody & music pub), can't even chat at all. Luckily there is some dancing show for us to see, it's last about half and hours, otherwise eve & me will boring from the beginning till the end. They order 2 bottles of Martell, its taste better mixed with coke rather than plain water. 7 of us shared the Martell but eve & me not the type of alcoholic.

That day really consider lucky because we are escape from the summon from police. On the way back to hotel, our car stopped by the police on suspicion of driving while drunk or driving under the influence of drugs (typically referred to as DUI or DWI), the officer ask our friend(jackson) to submit to a breath test, this is commonly called a ‘Breathalyzer’ test.

The purpose of this test is to determine the blood-alcohol content (BAC). The Breathalyzer test can be administered roadside . The officer call Jackson, to blow into the machine for a long moment a few times by placing his mouth around a tube attached to a hand-held device. Then he tell Jackson when can stop. The machine then shows a result on the screen ,first time is 35 then 2nd times is 40. All of us worried & paled whether we are imposed ? Luckily the officer said the minimum is 50 & maximum is 80. That means we are escaped ! Thanks God!

I use to ask a friend how is the calculation of the limits of breath test. He said over 50 will imposed fine & over 80 will sentenced & send to jail for drunk driving. (perhaps somebody can tell me more detail about the test).

My friend told us perhaps having a light meal , coffee or eating mints after drinking can fool the police for breath test, don't know whether its correct ? but it sound works because we really "luckily" escape from police & all of us eating fisherman lemon flovours mints! This time luckily escape & may not guarantee for next time.We do learn a lesson on it. Anyway drunk driving is not safe to yourself and the public as well, hopefully everyone must aware of it. Love yourself & others!
